Work to improve the safety and efficiency of the Gold Coast Highway and Terminal/Johnston Street intersection has recently been completed, said Member for Currumbin, Jann Stuckey.
“The $300,000 upgrade of this busy intersection was completed as part of the Safer Roads Sooner initiative.
“Upon the completion of the Tugun Bypass, it was identified that the traffic leaving the bypass at the Tweed Heads interchange heading for Coolangatta would need to travel north on the Gold Coast Highway before performing a U-turn at the Terminal Drive/Johnston Street intersection.
“In order to improve the safety and efficiency of this intersection, the right turning lane on the Gold Coast Highway northbound has been extended, and a protected green arrow for northbound Highway motorists turning right or U-turning has been installed.
“Construction of this project was commenced ahead of schedule, allowing for the work to be recently completed,” Ms Stuckey said.
