Incorporated Associations Invited to Have Their Say
19 March 2012
Member for Currumbin and Shadow Minister for Small Business, Jann Stuckey MP, is encouraging incorporated associations in the Currumbin electorate to get involved in the review of current legislation.
“A review has been announced into the Associations Incorporation Act 1981 to bring Queensland’s associations laws into a modern framework,” Ms Stuckey said.
“Public submissions are being called on the issues paper “Supporting Queensland Associations: a modern framework for civil society”, which covers a number of areas of reform.
“These include permitted trading and number of members; financial reporting and transparency; internal and external dispute resolution; proxy voting requirements; and accountability and transparency of executive and members including disclosure requirements.
“Numerous associations and non-for-profit groups in the Currumbin electorate operate under these laws and can now have a say in how to improve them.
“The issues paper can be viewed online at www.fairtrading.qld.gov.au/community-consultation.htm
“Submissions can be made via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by mail to Associations Review 2012, Office of Regulatory Policy, Department of Justice and Attorney-General, GPO Box 3111, Brisbane Qld 4001
The closing date for submissions is Friday 25 May 2012
