Jarratt treats Tourism Board with contempt
27 October 2011
LABOR Tourism Minister Jan Jarratt was today accused of bypassing the Tourism Queensland Board and blowing $56,000 on head-hunters to find new board members.
Shadow Minister for Tourism, Manufacturing and Small Business Jann Stuckey said several current TQ board members were aghast with the behaviour of the Minister and the waste of precious tourism funds.
“Ms Jarratt clearly is arrogant, out-of-touch and plainly out of her depth,” Ms Stuckey said.
“Why did she treat the board with contempt and blow $56,000 on head-hunters?”
Ms Stuckey said the inept Minister continued to ignore the accountability process, and had refused to explain her actions.
“Queensland taxpayers have been left with a $56,000 bill for work that’s previously been undertaken by a TQ board nominations committee.
“We can only assume that the Minister had no faith in the TQ board to find the best applicants.
“The minister’s actions show a blatant disrespect for hard-working and dedicated TQ board members,” Ms Stuckey said.
“Anna Bligh and Labor – not again.”
